The reason to fit it is the note, not the volume. The factory midpipe is unequal in length between the two banks, which is a packaging compromise, and the result is the slightly ragged, hollow quality these cars have around 2,000-3,000 rpm. An equal-length Z-pipe brings the two banks' pulses into phase before they meet, which cleans up that rasp and gives a tighter, higher-quality sound rather than simply a louder one. On a car that does the school run and the motorway as well as the weekend, that distinction is the whole point: you want a better noise, not a drone you regret at a steady 120 km/h.

89 mm tubing is the deliberate choice. Going larger on a 3.0 litre engine costs exhaust gas velocity, and velocity is what scavenges the cylinder at low rpm -- the classic result of an over-sized system is a car that sounds impressive and feels softer below 3,000 rpm. 89 mm gives the flow headroom a tuned S58 needs at the top end without throwing away the bottom end, and it is matched to the factory rear section so the system stays consistent rather than becoming a collection of parts that happen to bolt together.

Because this section sits behind the factory catalysts and ahead of the rear silencer, the emission control hardware is untouched, and the exhaust valves still function -- Comfort stays civil, Sport still opens up. That is a meaningful difference on a daily-driven SUV, where a permanently loud system gets old quickly, and it keeps the car usable for passengers and for early starts.

Construction is SS304 stainless with mandrel bends that hold their diameter, TIG-welded joints with argon back-purge, a stainless flex section to take up chassis movement, and the factory flange and hanger arrangement so no cutting or fabrication is needed.
