Product description
Our intercooler features 3D CAD designed cast aluminum end tanks for improved flow in comparison to sheet metal end tanks. Our one peice seamless cast end tanks are also more durable than comparable sheet metal or multiple peice end tanks. Every intercooler is finished in a beautiful, uniform, bright silver coating which helps protect the intercooler from corrosion and ensures your intercooler holds up to the elements.
Why Stepped. Look behind the E8X/E9X front bumper and you'll see the problem: limited vertical space. A flat core can only grow so tall before it hits the crash bar. A stepped core solves this by extending the upper section taller into the available cavity above the bumper beam — maximizing core volume without cutting, trimming, or relocating anything. You get the thermal mass of a much larger intercooler inside the same stock mounting envelope.
Core Construction. Bar-and-plate core with high-density internal turbulators — not the lighter tube-and-fin design that BMW shipped from the factory. More internal surface area means more heat transfer per pass. More aluminum mass means longer thermal saturation time. On a Stage 2+ N54 pushing 18+ psi, expect IATs within 10–12°F of ambient through multiple gears — versus 40–60°F delta on the stock core.
