The kit pairs a mandrel-bent aluminum charge pipe with reinforced silicone couplers, which is the combination that actually works best on an S55. Aluminum provides the burst strength the factory plastic lacks, and holds its shape at any boost level the turbos can generate. Silicone at the connections does the job aluminum cannot: it absorbs the engine movement, thermal expansion, and torsional twist that occur when the engine works, so the pipe is not rigidly stressed at its joints. That is why a metal pipe with proper silicone couplers outlasts a metal pipe bolted solid, and why the factory used flexible connectors in the first place.
The kit installs at the factory mounting points with the supplied clamps and hardware -- no cutting, no fabrication, fully reversible. Fitment covers the F80 M3, F82 M4, and F83 M4 with the S55 3.0L twin-turbo, 2014-2020. One part, three builds. Titanium is the top spec: ~45% lighter than stainless, conducts about one-fifth the heat of aluminium, with optional baked blue, purple, or gold heat-coloured finish. Aluminium is the mainstream choice: mandrel-bent, TIG-welded, and strong enough to end the factory plastic charge pipe failure for good. Reinforced silicone is the value option: lightest on cost, absorbs engine movement and thermal expansion without stressing the joints. Same tooling, same factory, your choice of material. Titanium 90° Mandrel Bends have a 1.2mm wall thickness. Bent from our 1.2mm thin wall commercially pure Grade 1 Titanium you won’t find a lighter and higher quality bend on the market. Each mandrel is individually bent, the ends are laser cut and then they are ultrasonically cleaned to provide a ready to weld solution right out of the package.
