Fupower Custom Auto Parts Manufacturer - Best Racing parts manufactuer in China
A complete welding quote is built from a sequence, not from a single hourly rate. It starts with cutting and preparing the components: sawing to length, beveling edges, removing mill scale and degreasing the joint area. Then fit-up, which is where a good fabricator spends real time aligning, tacking and checking before any final pass.
Next comes the weld itself, driven by joint type, access, position and material. After that, cooling and controlled handling to limit distortion. Then finishing, cleaning and, for stainless, restoring the passive layer that heat has disturbed. Finally, inspection, testing and packaging.
Every one of those steps can be quietly removed from a quote. Nothing on the finished part announces its absence until it fails.
| Quoted item | Complete quote | Thin quote |
|---|---|---|
| Joint preparation | Beveling, cleaning, fit-up listed | Folded into "welding" or omitted |
| Fixturing | Dedicated jig time included | Not mentioned |
| Weld process | Specified, with position and access noted | Generic "welding" |
| Filler material | Grade named and matched to parent metal | Unspecified |
| Post-weld treatment | Pickling and passivation included | Absent |
| Dimensional check | Against drawing, before dispatch | Assumed |
| Leak or pressure test | Listed with the test method | Absent |
| Surface protection | Separators, caps, packaging defined | Bare parts in a box |
| Documentation | Material and weld records available | Not offered |
Reading these rows is straightforward. A quote that lists preparation, fixturing, filler grade, post-weld treatment and testing is comparable to another. A quote that lists only a price is not comparable to anything.
Ask what filler grade will be used and why. Ask how the assembly is held during welding and how distortion is controlled. Ask whether heat tint is removed and the passive layer restored. Ask how the part is checked before it ships, and whether that check is recorded.
Then ask what happens if a part fails that check. A supplier with a real process will answer all five without hesitation, because those steps already exist in their workflow. A supplier who treats these as new requests has just told you what the original price was based on.
We quote welded assemblies — exhaust sections, brackets, flanges, tanks and structural parts — with the process, joint preparation, fixturing, treatment and inspection steps written into the number rather than left to interpretation. Non-destructive testing can be built into the sequence where the part's service demands it.
Send your drawing or sample along with the quantity and the environment the part will see. You will get a quote you can compare line by line against every other shop.
